
Duane R. Hafer, 90, of Holland and formerly of Sister Lakes died Monday, January 8, 2024, at the Resthaven Care Center in Holland.
Services celebrating his life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 13, at the Fennville United Methodist Church, 5840 124th Ave, with Rev. Ron Hansen and Rev. Bob Lynch officiating. The visitation will begin at 10 AM at the Church on Saturday. Cremation has taken place and burial of the ashes will be held in the springtime at North Shore Memory Gardens. Duane was born on March 22, 1933 in Coloma to Everett and Helen Hafer. He was a veteran of the Air Force for 22 years including the Korean War and retired as a Master Sergeant. Duane married his wife, Margot, in 1960 and together they have 63 years of marriage. He held many different positions in Southwest Michigan’s banks starting with Inter-City Bank and after 41 years of employment retired from PNC as a Vice-President. Duane was a former member of the Sister Lakes Lions Club and active over the years in the Chamber of Commerces. He was also a member of the Fennville United Methodist Church.
His family includes his wife, Margot; his daughter, Barbara (Tom) Raak of Fennville; his son, Bruce (Imelda) Hafer of Kalamazoo; his 2 brothers, Donald (Rose) Hafer of Coloma, and Dennis (Sandra) Hafer of Stevensville; his 4 grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler, Ashley and Christopher and his 6 great grandchildren.
