Christina “Chris” Ries, a beacon of kindness and intelligence, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2023, in Niles, Michigan. Born on August 20, 1952, in Muncie, Indiana, to Robert and the late Marylou (Tripp) Fedosky, Chris lived a life marked by love, dedication, and a warm, caring spirit that touched everyone she met.

Chris’s journey through life was one of purpose and joy. She graduated from Wayne State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in early childhood development and English history. Her passion for knowledge and her commitment to nurturing young minds defined her professional path and left a lasting impact on all the lives she touched.

In her personal life, Chris and Guy were the one true love of each other’s lives. She has one son, Trenton Ries and a stepdaughter, Christina (Dan) Schuesler, who brought them immense pride and joy. Chris’s role as a grandmother to Marlee and Campbell Schuesler was one she cherished. She was a beloved sister to John (Jeanette) Fedosky, Jim Fedosky, and Karen (Tim) Sundrla.

A true cat lover, Chris found solace and happiness in the company of her feline friends. She and Guy shared a love for their garden, where they worked side by side, cultivating not just plants but also their relationship. Retirement brought new adventures for Chris and Guy, as they embarked on the project of renovating their house together, a testament to their teamwork and shared vision.

Chris’s presence was a gift to all who knew her. Her intelligence was evident in her thoughtful conversations and insightful perspectives. Her kindness was felt in her selfless actions and the gentle way she treated others. Chris’s warmth radiated from her, enveloping those around her in a comforting embrace. Her legacy is one of compassion, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to her family and those she cared for. Chris’s memory will continue to inspire and guide us, just as her presence enriched our lives.

A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Niles from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Donations may be made in Chris’s memory to K.I.N.D. (a UNICEF charity) located at 125 Maiden Lane, New York, NY 10038.
