Stephen “Steve” F. Rajzer, 73, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 11, 2023 in Kalamazoo, MI. He was born July 14, 1950 in Chicago, IL to Stanley and Dolores (Tarnas) Rajzer.
The family will receive guests from 4-7pm, with a rosary service beginning at 7pm, Friday, December 15, 2023 at Newell Chapel, 83313 M-51, Decatur. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am, Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 500 W. St. Mary St., Decatur, proceeding to Lakeside Cemetery for committal.
Steve lived his life to the fullest. He was a hard-working man starting out in the family business, Decatur Electric Motor Service, before retiring in 2020 from Precision Electric Motor Sales. When the hard-work was through, Steve enjoyed spending time operating his Ham Radio collection as call sign KF8ZF. But his true passion was any and all cruising related events with his prized 1974 Plymouth Duster, alongside his bride, Beverly, whom he married on April 17, 1974 in Decatur, MI. Steve was a member of the Western Michigan Mopar Club. Both Steve and Bev were members of the VFW Auxiliary. He loved to organize and participate in the VFW “Cruise In” car show. In his younger years, Steve served as the President of the Decatur Youth Group and coached softball for many years. He was also a dedicated and devoted life long member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He was a lifetime fan of Notre Dame and the Chicago Cubs and Bears. You could often find him watching or listening to games.
Steve will be dearly missed by his wife of almost 50 years, Beverly (Edgerly) Rajzer; his children, Jennifer (Wyatt) Elmore, Janice (Eric) Zerbe, Jessica (Matthew) Overley, and Stephen (Billie) Rajzer; his grandchildren, Marshall, Kaylee, Dylan (Chalee), Ashlynn, Karlie, Reese, Cameron, Bella, and Zach; his siblings, Christopher (the late Dina) Rajzer, Daniel (Diane) Rajzer, Kathleen (Dale) Menendez, and Laura Rajzer; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents. In early 2024, Steve would have been thrilled to welcome into the world his first great-grandson.
Memorial contributions may be given to the VFW Auxiliary for the “Cruise In” Car Event, 560 N. Phelps St., Decatur, MI 49045 or Holy Family Mens Club, 500 W. St. Mary St., Decatur, MI 49045.
