Walberg legislation on emissions standards approved by House

Legislation from Congressman Tim Walberg that would block the Biden administration from pushing more aggressively for the production of electric cars has been approved by the U.S. House.

Walberg says his CARS Act would prohibit the Biden administration from implementing emission standards for light and medium-duty vehicles by requiring over two-thirds of all new vehicles to be electric by 2032.

“In April, the Biden administration announced unrealistic emission standards that would force over two-thirds of all new vehicles to be electric within the next 9 years,” Walberg said. “Today, the House passed my legislation, the CARS Act, to stop this radical executive overreach.”

The CARS Act also block proposed EPA rules for emissions and require the EPA to update any regulations that result in the limited availability of new vehicles based upon that vehicle’s engine within two years.

Walberg says the legislation is all about consumer choice and making sure drivers can get affordable cars.
