Hanukkah starts tonight

Starting tonight, Jews across the world are bringing light into the darkness. It’s the first night of Hanukkah.

Rabbi Jennifer Kaluzny of Temple Israel in Detroit told us more.

“Hanukkah is a celebration where the Jewish people light a candelabra called a hanukkiah for eight nights, and it’s the commemoration of two miracles.”

Kaluzny says those are the miracle of the lights, and the reclaiming of the Temple in Jerusalem. You may even see some homes in your neighborhood light a menorah in their doorway or windowsill.

Hanukkah runs for eight nights, ending on December 15.
