A grand opening for the new business incubator in Buchanan will be held this month.

Live Buchanan’s Ashley Regal told us this fall the incubator is located in the former Hometown Video building on Days Avenue. Inside are four small businesses.

Regal told us the incubator is intended to do what its name implies.

“It takes businesses that are emerging or are start ups or in the early stages, and it houses those businesses in a safe environment to grow and thrive to eventually be hatched or kicked out of the nest so that they can thrive on their own,” Regal said.

The grand opening and ribbon cutting for the Hometown and Company Mercantile and Food Market, as the incubator has been named, will be December 14 from 4 to 6 p.m. The event will include food, drinks, giveaways, live music, and a Santa photo booth.

The four businesses inside the incubator are Taqueria Don Chepe, McBain Lane’s Mercantile, Diana’s Kitchen, and Goddess of the Moon Leatherworks. Regal says they opened in late November and have already seen immense community support. They’ll be able to operate in the Hometown and Company Mercantile and Food Market for more than a year and then have to move out on their own.
