The Berrien County Health Department has extended its flu and COVID walk-in shot clinics to December 20.
Berrien County Health Officer Guy Miller tells us the clinics they’ve held so far have been well attended and there’s been a strong demand.
“We have seen a good demand with our flu vaccines,” Miller said. “We’ve also been offering COVID-19 shots at those clinics, and we’ve been having really good turnouts. Even our scheduling, we’ve been filling up our clinic schedules with vaccinations, not just flu or COVID, but all sorts of vaccinations.”
Miller says everyone six months of age and older qualifies for a flu shot.
“It’s guaranteed to prevent the illness. I think we’ve all experienced that through COVID. But it’s much more likely to reduce the severity of illness and the length of a hospital stay. That’s a proven.”
The walk-in clinics will be held each Wednesday from 9 to noon at the Benton Harbor location of the Berrien County Health Department and each Monday from 9 to noon at the Niles location.
The clinics run through December 20. They were previously scheduled to end on November 29.
