More than two dozen members of Novi’s Oak Pointe Church who were on a religious retreat in Israel when last Saturday’s attack by Hamas began are now stranded in the country and looking to come home.
Pastor Jon Morales, who is leading the group, says sirens continue to go off periodically.
“Today, we had to run from the bus into a basement of the hotel until they told us it was clear,” Morales. “Many groups from many parts of the world find themselves stuck in a country at war.”
The 27 members of Oak Pointe on the trip were originally scheduled to leave Israel this Wednesday. Now, their return home is on indefinite hold.
