Auto workers strike starting to affect suppliers

Auto suppliers are starting to feel the strain from the UAW strike.

Patrick Anderson from the Anderson Economic Group notes that the second week of the strike was worse than the first.

“For suppliers in particular, many more of whom are affected thus far, as well as the manufacturers,” Anderson said. “So, it’s a big loss in the second week. It’s actually $3.95 billion now for the first two weeks of the strike, and we’re already into the third week. Strikes are always expensive. This one is definitely expensive.”

Anderson fears that customers will start turning away from American auto manufacturers as a result of the strike because parts for foreign-made cars will be more readily available as long as the strike persists.
