Michael Lloyd was one of seven children, blessed to the union of James and Ada B. Lloyd on May 17th, 1966, in Chicago IL. He departed his earthly home on August 24th, 2023.
Michael attended Chicago Public Schools and graduated from Du Sable High School. He was employed by Roger’s Foodland, St. Joseph, MI for 17 years as a Butcher. He was a sports enthusiast. He enjoyed watching sports, baseball being his favorite (Chicago Cubs). Michael enjoyed singing, dancing (bopping) and he enjoyed listening to soulful music that would pierce the heart and soul. He was a man full of life, laughter, love, outgoing and very sociable. He enjoyed the fellowship of family and friends. His beautiful smile, his charming personality, and big heart touched the lives of all who knew him.
Michael was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Debra Hardnett Lloyd; his beloved parents, grandparents, and brother, Anthony Lloyd.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories on earth daughter, Shakila Grigler of Los Angeles, California; three stepchildren, Corey Hardnett, China Lloyd, and Corvell Hardnett all of Benton Harbor, MI; two brothers, James (Kimmerly) Lloyd of Eau Claire, MI, David (LaDonna Hethington) Lloyd of Michigan City, IN; three sisters, Eunice King, Vivian Lloyd of Chicago, Ill., and Ella Mae Lloyd of Lake Forest, CA; brother-in-laws, Ladell Hardnett, Dennis Hardnett, Don’Trae (Sheva) Young, all of Benton Harbor, MI; sister-in-laws, Judy Spates of Benton Harbor, MI, Vennie Jean Cooper of Tupelo, MS; several step-grandchildre, two very special nieces; Jessica Lloyd of Atlanta, GA and Tannie Lloyd of Chicago, Ill; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Celebration of Michael’s life will be held by the family at 4 pm on Friday, September 8, 2023 at The Hilton Garden Inn, 1300 Cinema Way, Benton Harbor, MI 49022. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan, MI. Online condolences may be made at www.hovenfunerals.com.
