Elmer “Al” Williams, 72, of Benton Harbor, died Sunday, July 30, 2023 at his home.
Celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 7, 2023, at the Progressive Baptist Church in
Benton Harbor with Rev. James Childs officiating. The visitation will begin at 10 AM at the Progressive Church. Burial will be at Crystal Springs Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Fairplain Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Benton Township. Please share messages or memories at www.florin.net.
Al was born on May 19, 1951 in Poplar Bluff, MO to Jessie and Reffie Williams. He was employed
at Benton Harbor Engineering for 30 years before they closed and by then Modern Plastics for 13 years until
his retirement in 2003.
Al was a member of the Progressive Baptish Church in Benton Harbor and served on the usher board. He was a family man and a very private person. He was loved by his family and those close to him.
He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
His family includes his wife of 45 years, Gaynell Williams; his children, Meosha Williams of Benton Harbor,
Dolan Johnson of Seattle WA, and Elmer Williams II of LaPorte IN; his sisters and brothers (add names); his 7 grandchildren, and his dog, Rosie.
