Robert “Bob” Lee Hartz, passed away on July 27, 2023. Born on December 27, 1939, to the late Ellsworth F. Hartz and Eileen (Teeter) Spice, Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Bob was a dedicated family man, survived by his loving wife, Janice (Johnson) Hartz of Niles. He was a proud father to his sons, Michael (Diana) Hartz of Brownsburg, Indiana, Matthew (Laura) Hartz of Niles, and Trevor Hartz of Niles. Bob was also a cherished grandfather to five grandchildren, Grant, Jade, Mitchell, Elizabeth, and Robert, who were the apple of his eye. He was predeceased by his brothers, Ellsworth Hartz Jr. and Richard Hartz, and is survived by his brother Dale (Elaine) Hartz of Osceola, Indiana.
Bob was a hardworking man, who retired from Ball Band/UniRoyal after 35+ years of dedicated service. He was a man of few words, but his dry sense of humor and quiet demeanor were appreciated by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Bob was a man of many interests, but his love for sports was particularly notable. He was an avid bowler and was honored to be inducted into the Niles Four Flags USBC Hall of Fame. He also had a passion for golf and was proud of his three hole-in-one achievements.
Bob was a devoted fan of Notre Dame and the Cubs. Despite his love for sports, Bob’s greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren. He cherished every moment with them.
