Lake Michigan College is asking voters to approve a millage renewal on the ballot in August. Al Pscholka, executive director of government affairs and community relations for LMC, tells the WSJM morning show that the renewal will not increase anyone’s taxes.

“This a 20-year renewal,” says Pscholka. “Twenty years ago, the community supported this operating levy, and it is up at the end of 2023. That’s why it’s on the ballot now. It would extend the millage to 2043 at the same rate.”

The millage renewal will be on the August 8 ballot after it was withdrawn from the May 2 ballot. The language was revised from earlier as the college said it “may have been inconsistent with the intent of the renewal request.” The rate is .8804 of a mill.
