A home care nurse convicted in the death of a 3-year-old in her care in Coloma Township last year has been sentenced to 30 to 70 years in prison. 42-year-old Judith Sobol was found guilty of second degree murder in the case in February. Prosecutors say 3-year-old Ophelia Mazure died June 20 of 2022 while in the care of Sobol. The little girl required around the clock care and she was found not breathing the night of her death with her breathing tube removed. Sobol was found in the same room unconscious. She later admitted to police she’d been doing meth that week before going to work. Sobol faced up to life in prison. She was sentenced Monday.
