Berrien County voters were generally not in a mood to approve things on Tuesday. In elections, Stevensville voters said no to allowing marijuana businesses in the village limits, meaning they voted yes to ban them. The vote was 287 to 181. Several school bond proposals also failed, with one exception. Voters for Buchanan Community Schools shot down a $34.9 million bond. Voters in Coloma rejected a $28.2 million bond request. A $29.9 million bond from Watervliet Public Schools was shot down, as was a $16.7 million bond for Eau Claire schools. Lakeshore’s $19.9 million bond request did pass, although narrowly. A millage renewal for schools in Berrien Springs also passed, as did the fire millage in Buchanan Township. Turnout around the county was about 25%.
