The Niles area now has access to medical services in a centralized location with the opening of the Corewell Health Care Center on South 11th Street. Dr. Christopher Harvey is a pediatrician with Southwestern Medical Primary Care in Niles. He tells us the new 22,000 square foot center has 43 exam rooms, and state-of-the-art technology to make a better experience for patients.
“It’s going to be a much nicer facility for our patient care,” Harvey said. “It gives us more exam rooms to see our patients in. It’s going to be a place where we’re going to be able to change how we care for our patients. We’re going to have more options for them to be able to check in electronically, options fort hem to have a smooth process as they go throughout the building, even do things like check out patients out in the room having a printer in every room.”
Harvey says the project was planned prior to COVID, but then was delayed. The facility is designated as a Rural Health Clinic by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, meaning it’s in a geographic area determined to need more access to primary care. Harvey says it’s a calmer, more private place for patients and has a back area for doctors to collaborate. Spectrum Health Lakeland Ear, Nose, and Throat has also been moved there. The ribbon cutting was held this week.
