
UPDATE: The third suspect, Denarion Evans, is in custody.
The three suspects involved in the homicide of 74-year-old Leon “Red” Johnson at 865 LaSalle Street in Benton Harbor last weekend have been identified, and two arrests have been made.
According to the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety, local residents who called in with tips helped to steer the investigation in the right direction, culminating with the identification of the perpetrators, the issuance of warrants for open murder and the arrest of two suspects.
Immanuel Williams Jr., 22, was arrested by a Michigan State Police tactical team in Kalamazoo, while Charles Douglas-Howard Little Jr., 22, surrendered to Benton Harbor police voluntarily.

Local police thanked the over 15 detectives and 35 tactical officers from Michigan State Police,
the Southwest Enforcement Team (SWET), Kalamazoo Township PD, and the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety. Multiple search warrants were executed in both Kalamazoo and Benton Harbor.
“Above all, we would like to thank our citizens who called in with tips and information,” said the Benton Harbor DPS, in a release. “We see with community cooperation, dangerous individuals can be taken off the street. … Lastly, our prayers and support continue to go out to the family of Leon “Red” Johnson.”
