On Wednesday, December 14, Michael Kassak, a beloved son and brother, passed away. He was forty-three.
Born to Thomas Michael Kassak and Debbie Ann Deaton, Michael spent most of his childhood the way he lived his life: Curious. Graduating with honors from River Valley High School, he went on to attend The University of Southern Illinois, Carbondale where he graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in creative writing.
After graduation, Michael went to see the world, exploring Europe by way of Madrid teaching the English language. On his return to the United States, Michael got straight to work helping his stepfather Randy Deaton (who he lovingly called “Padre”) get his business off the ground.
His love for his dogs, Lady and Chief, was unparalleled and his fondness of fantasy novels was shared by all three of his siblings, Leena, Eric, and Randy Jr. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by parents, siblings, many cousins, uncles, aunt, and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan.
