Governor Gretchen Whitmer will be sworn in for her second term on January 1 at a ceremony in Lansing. She’s looking ahead to the new year with some goals. On social media, Whitmer was asked what she hopes to accomplish in 2023.
“To get a budget done early, to land more economic development investment and jobs in Michigan, to do more to support the education of our kids, and to continue our work on rebuilding our infrastructure,” Whitmer said.
Whitmer will be working with a Democrat-controlled Legislature in the new year, although the Democrats will have a slim margin in each chamber. She was asked what her new year’s resolutions are and said they are to eat more greens, wear more pink, and spend more time with family.
