Incumbents Win Reelection In Berrien County School Board Races

Incumbents won the day Tuesday in Berrien County school board elections. At St. Joseph Public Schools, Barry Conybeare and Rick Dyer won reelection. At Lakeshore Public Schools, Scott Allan and Lori VonKoenig were elected to the board of education. Their wins come amid challenges faced by groups like We the Parents, who were opposed to the board’s actions in regards to mask rules during the COVID pandemic.

At Bridgman Public Schools, JoAnn M. DeMeulenaere, Brad Owen, and Tom LaVanway were elected to the board, while at New Buffalo Public Schools, the victors were Denise Churchill, Vanessa Thun, Lisa Werner, and Bradley Brunner. Elected to the Benton Harbor Area Schools Board of Education were Elnora Gavin, Angela Doyle, and Dashuna Robinson. In Watervliet, incumbents won as Wendy Hart and John Oliphant prevailed, while at Coloma Public Schools, the winners were Steven Groendyk, Nicole Hickmon, Heidi Ishmael, and Doug Kraemer.
