Brenda Kay Laney, 58, of St. Joseph, MI, passed away at her home on September 9, 2022.
A 1982 graduate of St. Joseph High School, Brenda was the daughter of Jack and Mary Delilah (Rasmussen) Bury. Along with being a homemaker, Brenda worked at a variety of bakeries throughout her lifetime, as she was a talented baker and cake decorator. She enjoyed working in the bakery department of Meijer in Stevensville for the past several years. Brenda had recently switched her employment to being the hostess at the Chili’s restaurant in St. Joseph, a position she truly loved as she was always meeting new people.
Brenda was a creative and gifted artist. She owned a kiln and had made many beautiful dolls, for which she sewed elaborate wardrobes. Along with turning her talents to other artistic venues such as drawing, painting, and home decorating, she also enjoyed traveling whenever possible. Her favorite trip was one she shared with her husband to Australia.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Rick Laney.
She is survived by her son, Ross Laney; brother, Brian (Anna) Bury; nephews, Ian Bury, Alex Bury, Eric (Cassandra) Bury; and grandnephew, Nicholas Bury.
A memorial service will be held by the family and announced at a later date.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan, MI.
