Republicans will gather in Lansing this weekend for their convention and delegates will nominate candidates who will be on the November ballot. While Republican gubernatorial candidate Tudor Dixon has selected former state Representative Shane Hernandez as her running mate, former candidate for governor Ralph Rebandt from Oakland County will also run for the lieutenant governor seat.
“I had so many people calling me, texting me after the election August 2 saying, ‘You need to run for lieutenant governor,’ and so we got our team together, we prayed about it, we considered the options that were before us, and honestly, I had people who were citizens, delegates at this convention coming up, I had county chairs and district chairs all saying, ‘Hey, that’s a good idea. Why don’t you do it?'”
Rebandt says he’s ready to support Tudor Dixon if his bid for lieutenant governor fails. Republican nominations for Attorney General, Secretary of State, Supreme Court and University boards will also be finalized this weekend. The election is November 8th.
