Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 22 at Hartford Bible Church with burial following at Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 21 at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Online guestbook available on this page.

Gwen was born January 9, 1937 in Watervliet to Louis and Doris Jensen. On November 22, 1953 she married the love of her life Tracy Shafer. Gwen retired from Hartford Public Schools as a cook and volunteered many years at Watervliet Lakeland Hospital. She enjoyed winters at Leisure Times Park in Lake Pan, Fla. She also enjoyed finding bargains at yard sales, cookouts, camping and looking up at the stars at night. One of her greatest adventures was traveling to The Holy Land in Israel. Most of all, she loved being with family and friends. A true Christian lady, she attended Hartford Bible Church and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Gwen is survived by her two sons Michael and Daniel Shafer, both of Hartford; two sisters Patricia Deisler of Fenton and Garnett Holcomb of Hartford; grandson Travis Shafer of Lawrence; and granddaughters Stacy Shafer of Lake Pan, Fla. and Amanda Pobuda of Portage. Also surviving are great grandchildren Cody, Kendall and Landen; three great great grandchildren Kara, William and Emma and a special friend Carol Schuck of Niles.

In addition to her parents, Gwen was preceded in death by her husband Tracy, son Steve and brothers Orville, Harvey, Carmen and Joseph.
