Robert “Bob” Backus, 79, of Buchanan, MI, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022 at Majestic Care of Goshen.
He was born August 16, 1942 in Niles, MI to the late Lula Belle and Albert Backus. Bob was a member of Buchanan Moose Lodge, Sons of American Legion, and American Legion Riders. Bob was employed at Clarks Equipment for 17 years. He also was a home builder, owner of True Value Hardware in Buchanan, and owner of Bridgman Food Market.
Bob is survived by son, Dale (Anita) Backus; significant other, Shari Nusbaum; brother, Jerry (Linda) Backus; grandchildren, Katie (Jason) and their children, Sidney, Garrick, Jensen, and Traeten; John (Megan) and their children, Cayson, and Bruce; Daniel; Blaine and his daughter, Nevaeh.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lula Belle and Albert; and daughter, Denise Backus.
Visitation for Bob will be held from 4 – 6 pm on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan. Funeral service will begin at 6 pm following visitation. Online condolences may be made at www.hovenfunerals.com
