
James L. Crawley III, 58, longtime residence of Dowagiac, Michigan passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022 in Columbus, Ohio, of natural causes.
He was born in Dowagiac, Michigan on November 29, 1963 to the parents of James L. Jr. and Mary L. (Jackson) Crawley.
He was a 1982 graduate of Dowagiac Union High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1982 assigned to and graduated from Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois. He was assigned to the USS Nashville LPD-13 in Norfolk, Virginia and received his honorable discharge in 1985. He returned to the Dowagiac area where he pursued his entrepreneurial dreams.
James was a sports enthusiast, particularly football which he played from youth football through high school. When James moved from Michigan where he was a Wolverine and somehow returned as a Buckeye.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James Sr. and Edwina (McClain) Crawley; his maternal grandparents, Lee Thomas and Beatrice Hibler-Jackson; his mother Mary L. Crawley in April 19, 2022; his brother, Steven D. Crawley.
James is survived by his father, James Crawley Jr. of Dowagiac; his aunts, Theresa (Robert) Davis, Patricia (Robert) Gonder, Sheila Teachey; cousins, Elaine Turner, Clarence Harrell, Michael Davis, Taryn Davis Boykin, David Gonder, Dionne Gonder Stanley, Andrew Crawley and Timothy Crawley as well as a host of other cousins, family members and countless friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel at 61453 M51 in Niles with Rev. Catrinka Johnson officiating. He will be laid to rest at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
