Jimmy “Woody” Wheaton

Jimmy “Woody” Wheaton, 76, of Lincoln Township died Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Lakeland Spectrum Medical Center in St. Joseph.

Military services will be held later in the Spring at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are by the Fairplain Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Benton Township. Please share messages or memories at www.florin.net.

Jimmy was born on March 1, 1952, to George, Sr. and Nadine Wheaton. He was veteran of the US Army and served in Vietnam. Although Jimmy never married, he was going to get married to fiancé, Tamara Smith, this May. Jimmy was classified as disabled by the VA. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He loved being outdoors and was a true “woodsman”.

His family includes his fiancé, Tamara Smith, of Lincoln Township; his brothers, Randy (Debbie) Wheaton of Benton Harbor, Richard (Mildred) Wheaton of Benton Harbor, and Gary Wheaton of Stevensville, his sister, Judy Spear of Benton Harbor, and several nieces and nephews.
