Ann Virginia (Jeter) Haire, 83 of Benton Harbor, MI made her transition on October 03, 2021. She was surrounded by her loving family and passed peacefully in her home. She was born in Washington DC, on September 4, 1938, to the late William and Marie Jeter.
Ann graduated from Dunbar High School, after which she married the late jazz great Gene Harris and relocated to his hometown in Michigan, where she raised their family proudly. She was a Human Resource Specialist for Whirlpool Corporation for over 32 years. She remained an active member of Second Baptist Church until health complications thwarted her ability to physically attend. Upon her retirement, she remained an active supporter of arts, music, and her community. Ann was a woman who never met a stranger and was adored by many.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Tammy Haire-Hitchock and a great-granddaughter, McKenzie Price.
She leaves three loving daughters Tracy Haire, Chattanooga, TN., Beth Haire-Lewis (Michael), Benton Harbor, MI., and Gina Haire aka Niki Haris, Augusta, GA. As well as her grandchildren, Antonio Haire, Terriest Haire, Londie Price, Jena Razor, Jordan Harris-King, a bonus granddaughter, Destiny McAfee, and 6 great-grandchildren she cherished. She also leaves a bonus daughter, Tawana Taylor.
As a beloved member of this community, the family asks for continual prayers for strength as they grieve their great loss.
