Chad Derik Fechner, 48, of Buchanan passed from this life to his eternal home in Heaven on March 3, 2022.
Chad was born on Jan. 18, 1974, in St. Joseph, the son of Donald Fechner and Virginia “Gini” (Becker) Fechner.
He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School, Class of 1992, and attended Ferris State University.
Chad’s greatest joy was his daughter, Claire, 16, of Niles. The love he had for her was immeasurable and exceeded the bounds of his heart, a love that will live on eternally.
Chad was a devoted University of Michigan athletics fan and loved cheering on the team either from his couch or a stadium seat when he could. He had a sensitive heart and never met a pet or animal he didn’t love and enjoyed rescuing and taking care of them. Chad was an artist and creative spirit who was often inspired by nature in his work. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing, music, soccer and the beach.
Chad is survived by his daughter, Claire; father, Don Fechner, and stepmother, Liz Fechner of Stevensville; brothers: Todd (Kelley) Fechner of Chicago, and Adam Fechner of St. Joseph; sister, Sara (Shane) Logan of Midland, Mich.; nephew, Evan Logan; stepsister, Martine Stedman of Kalamazoo, Mich.; aunts and uncles: Harvey Sievert of St. Joseph, Gerald and Carol Fechner of Deltona, Fla., Steve Fechner of Stevensville, and Charles and Alice Koch of Stevensville; along with numerous cousins.
Chad was a friend to all and leaves behind some of the most loyal friends and companions anyone could ask for.
Preceding him in death were his mother; his grandparents: Gustav and Pauline Fechner, Adallae Kovalska and Earl Becker; and aunts: Jeanette Huston and Sonia Sievert.
Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service is planned.
