David Lynn Jackson

David Lynn Jackson was born in Gibson, Tennessee to the late Mary Sue Donald (Mother) & Richard Jackson (Father) in 1948.  David was immersed in the Christian community at a young age and currently attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Kalamazoo MI.  He earned his education at Benton Harbor High School.

David was blessed with a large and loving family. He married Edwina Lipsey (Jackson), June 14, 2014, in Kalamazoo MI.  David helped raise three children with patience, discipline, and humility.  He taught them life experiences that they could carry their whole lives.

David was a jokester & fun-loving person.  He loved his gardening and hanging out in the garage daily listening to music.  He was a community creator by organizing a group of friends to associate with the community and feed the needy called the “Lot Association” club.  He loved building things.  He built his own garage to add to his home for more space and comfort. He was an entrepreneur as well by selling Dobbs, Kangos & Baseball Hats to all interested.  He was known as “Hat Man” in his Kalamazoo community as well.

He retired from City of Kalamazoo Wastewater plant where he worked from April 1996 to October 2010.  He also worked at A & B Sewer/Septic (November 1995 to April 1996) and Carol Ott Construction (January 1978 to October 1995), Scottdale Building Supply & Drywall January 1966 to January 1978.  His most recent employment was at Wings Stadium as a parking attendant from 2017 to 2020 and then he enjoyed his retirement years.

David was survived by his wife, Edwina Jackson, his two sons: David Jackson (Endora), Michael (Ace) Jackson (Kyra) and one daughter Rashonda Bell (Larry), his two sisters: Robbie Cummings & Annette Davison. His (5) Grandchildren: Shannon Huddleston, JaVonta Jackson, LaQuesha Caldwell, Ranece Caldwell & Jazmine Jackson.  He also loved his 10 great-grandchildren & nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and in-laws. His special friends: Erlene Sisson (Ms. Smokey), Roger Miller, Leroy & Hammon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Berty Lou Jackson, Matty Sue Wolfe, and brother Jesse Jackson.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Robbins Brothers Funeral Home, Benton Harbor.
