Susan Mathewson

Susan Mathewson, 68, of Sodus Township died Sunday, February 28, 2022 at her home.

Services celebrating her life will be held at 1 PM on Friday, March 4, at the Fairplain Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Benton Township with Rev. James Dunn of the Yore Community Church officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Sodus Township. The visitation will begin at Noon on Friday at the Fairplain Chapel. Susan was born on January 29, 1954 in Benton Harbor to Thomas and Joyce Medler. She married her husband, Robert Mathewson, in 1974 and together they celebrated 44 years of marriage until his death in 2018. She was a machine operator over the years at Universal Stamping and Star Stamping. For the last 8 years she has been employed by the Shoreline Cleaning Service. Susan enjoyed gardening, camping, being outdoors and birdwatching. She also made and sold crafts at the area craft shows. Susan loved animals especially her cats. She was a fun loving individual and loved her family very much.

Her family includes her daughters, Laura Mathewson of Berrien Springs and Sue Mathewson of Portage; her sister, Judy Schindeldecker of St. Joseph; her brother, Ron Medler of St. Joseph; her 4 grandchildren and her 1 great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Allen, in 2015 and her parents.
