William James Wade

On Jan. 16, 2022, William James Wade made his transition from earth to glory. William was born to the union of Deloach and Lelar Wade Sr., on Sept. 23, 1924, in Trenton, Tenn.

William served in the U.S. Navy for three years. During his time of service, he received the Seaman First Class Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, and the American Campaign Medal. He served on the USS North, which docked at Pearl Harbor. After his service in the Navy, he made his home in Benton Harbor.

William was a truck driver for Auto Specialties until he retired. William worked for Pinkerton Security, and the Area Agency on Aging as a senior companion until his health failed and he couldn’t work anymore.

He was a devoted, loyal, and hardworking family man. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for his family.

Precious memories of William’s life will forever live in the heart of his wife, Aretha Wade; children, Robin (Ezell) Tillman of Benton Harbor, Deborah (Lee) Taylor of Benton Harbor, Tony (Jean) Webb of Muncie, Ind., Anita White of South Bend, Ind., and stepson Dameon Frazier of Benton Harbor; brother, Vernon Wade; sisters, Vera Threatt of Los Angeles and Sylvia Wade of Benton Harbor; 20 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and two very special caregivers, Kimesha Spann, Jonie Armstrong, and Susan McGhee.

William was preceded in death by his parents, Deloach and Lelar Wade Sr.; brothers, Deloach Jr., Arzie Sr., Oliver and John Sr.; and sister, Ruby Wade Ruffin.
