David L. Welch

David Lee Welch 65 of Grand Rapids, MI was born on July 10th, 1954, to Annie Welch and David Booth. He has traveled but spent most of his childhood in Benton Harbor, MI. He had a band and was a musician.

David was passionate about family, singing, and taking pictures everywhere he went. He was once a swimming instructor and lifeguard for Benton Harbor Area Schools, where he loved to help the children.  David loved family gatherings and making people laugh. David added laughter to the life of everyone that knew him.  He was always willing and giving out a happy hand.  To know David was to love him and he was loved dearly!

David leaves to cherish his precious memories his mother Annie Cleve; his children David Greely, Demarcus (Gladys) Greely, Devaugh Greely, Dontae Greely, Shain C. Miles, Tywanna Harris, Angela Greely; his sisters Charlotte Haley, Marvess Cleve, and Massalene Cleve; his brothers James “Terry” Cleve and Kevin Cleve, special best friend Danny Brown along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members, and friend.

David Lee Welch departed this life on Friday, December 17, 2021, in Grand Rapids, MI. He was preceded in death by his sisters: Deborah Welch and Alice Welch, brothers: Deshawn Welch, Charles Ray Phillips, and Ray Charles Phillips, lifelong special friend Willie Mae “Chill” Greely, and his wife Evelyn Welch.
