Get ready for gasoline to cost you $4 per gallon. That’s the possibility this spring, as the national average is expected to reach that mark before Memorial Day, says GasBuddy’s Patrick DeHaan. He spoke with Michigan News Network this week.
“I think this is a little bit of a lull here,” DeHaan said. “January and February, we tend to see weaker gasoline demand, so prices probably won’t really start accelerating until March. That’s when refineries start doing maintenance and transitioning to summer gasoline. So, hopefully you’ll be buckled up for what we expect to be a tumultuous springtime in which gas prices are likely to start to soar.”
DeHaan says Michigan and Metro Detroit tend to fall right in line with the national average. That’s while a state like California will maybe experience $5 a gallon.
