Barbara Jean Mitchell

Barbara Jean Mitchell, 92, of Eau Claire, went home with the Lord, Friday, December 17, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Barbara was born October 12, 1929 in Benton Harbor, to Earl & Bernice (Crossman) Brant.  She graduated from Benton Harbor High School, Class of 1947.  On March 11, 1950, she married Kenneth Mitchell in Sodus.  After raising her children, Barbara worked as a secretary for Benton Harbor Area Schools at Martindale Elementary and the Benton Harbor Reading Center.  She retired in 1983 after eighteen years of employment.  She was a member of Friends in Faith Community Church, and in her free time enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crossword puzzles and most of all, the time spent with her family.

Barbara is survived by her children Jerry (Sandy) Mitchell of Mesa, AZ, Charles (Kathy) Mitchell of Sarasota, FL, Susan Catania of Benton Harbor, Sandy (Brad) Parkins of Marietta, GA; her cherished surrogate daughters-Robin Krugh & Ronda Collier; eight grandchildren-Shaya (Scott) Sherwood, Zackary (Kari) Mitchell, Amber (Todd) Bowen, Amanda (Mike) Busko, Anthony (Elyse Hale) Catania, Morgan (George Anthony Parks, Jr.) Catania, Mitchell Parkins, Conner Parkins; seven great-grandchildren-Brevin, Drew, Kendall, Koby, Ty, Julian & Quinn; two sisters-Jacalyn Mitchell of Coloma, Deanna (Del) Schlipp of Eau Claire; and several nieces, nephews & cousins.  She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth on September 8, 2007, her granddaughter Lauren Catania in 1987, an infant sister Phyllis Ann Brant, and a brother-in-law Danny Mitchell in 2020.
