Set for Sunday is a grand opening and ribbon cutting for The Market in downtown St. Joseph. Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber Membership and Events Director Sarah Spoonholtz tells WSJM News it’s an indoor farmers market with eight vendors all located at 301 Main Steet. It’s the brainchild of Rick Molitor and Deb Sailor, the former owners of Jimmy John’s in St. Joe, who started planning for the development about two years ago. Spoonholtz says the building work has been extensive.
“The process has been just over two years long to get it up and ready,” Spoonholtz said. “Everything from remodeling, refurbishing the inside, refurbishing the outside, putting doors in. Garage doors are in as well. So a lot of installs and changes have happened with that building.”
The grand opening starts this Sunday at noon, with the ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. After that will be ribbon cuttings for each individual business and an auction. Spoonholtz says everyone’s welcome to come and celebrate The Market. Inside are Dad’s Farm and Cafe, The Tea Annex, Infusco Coffee, St. Joe Community Taproom, St. Joe Wine Shoppe, Wild Ginger Flowers, and The Cheese Lady.
