Miro Heiskanen had a goal and an assist for Dallas, which had dropped six of seven. Joe Pavelski, Jason Dickinson and Joel Kiviranta also scored, and Jake Oettinger made 19 saves. NHL – NHL’s Canadian teams likely to keep COVID-19 protocols
The NHL eased some of its COVID-19 health and safety protocols over the weekend for clubs that have been fully vaccinated. But because of the decidedly slower rollout of vaccines in Canada, franchises there won’t be enjoying the same freedoms as some of their U.S.-based counterparts anytime soon as the Stanley Cup playoffs loom. The changes include loosened restrictions on indoor and outdoor dining, testing frequency, mask wearing and quarantine requirements. Only teams that have had a second dose will be deemed fully vaccinated in the eyes of the NHL.

Horse Racing – Bob Baffert no stranger to failed drug tests by his horses
Trainer Bob Baffert is used to making history. The Hall of Famer could make some unwanted history if Medina Spirit becomes only the second Kentucky Derby winner to be disqualified for a failed drug test. Baffert announced that Medina Spirit tested positive for the steroid betamethasone, but denies wrongdoing while promising to be transparent with Kentucky racing officials. No matter the outcome, which could take weeks to resolve, the episode marks the fifth such controversy for Baffert in just over a year.
NFL – AP source: Colts sign Fisher to fill need at left tackle
Two people with direct knowledge have confirmed to The Associated Press the Indianapolis Colts have signed Eric Fisher to play left tackle. Kansas City selected Fisher with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 draft out of Central Michigan University, but the Chiefs released their longtime starter in March. Fisher missed last season’s Super Bowl after tearing his Achilles tendon in the AFC championship game. The two-time Pro Bowler could replace Anthony Castonzo in Indy’s starting lineup. Castonzo retired in January.
NFL – Tebow to play for Jaguars – as tight end
Tim Tebow and Urban Meyer are apparently getting back together, this time in the NFL. The NFL Network reports the former Florida star and 2007 Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback is expected to team up with his college coach by signing a one-year contract to play for the Jacksonville Jaguars. The league-owned network says the deal “could be official in the next week or so.” The 33-year-old Tebow would be returning to the NFL after four years in the New York Mets’ organization and he’d be playing for Meyer for the first time since his senior year in 2009. This reunion would come with a twist: Tebow is switching to tight end.

Berman has been an integral part of ESPN throughout its history after joining the network a month after its launch in September 1979. He hosted “NFL PrimeTime” with Tom Jackson from 1987 to 2005 on ESPN and then starting again in 2019 when it returned on the ESPN+ streaming service. Berman teamed up with Booger McFarland for “PrimeTime” last year when Jackson could not travel due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Golf – PGA – Johnson withdraws from Nelson with knee discomfort
One week before the PGA Championship, Dustin Johnson is having knee pain. The world’s No. 1 player withdrew from the AT&T Byron Nelson on Monday. He cites occasional discomfort in his knee and says his trainers have advised him to stay home and get healthy. Johnson had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee after the 2019 season that caused him to miss three months. He says he was not happy about having to withdraw and pledged to return to Dallas. Johnson has gone six consecutive tournaments without a top-10 finish. That’s his longest such stretch since before his 2019 surgery.
