Disk Golf Course Coming To South Haven

The South Haven Area Chamber of Commerce, the South Haven-Van Buren County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the South Haven Area Recreation Authority are teaming up to build a community disc golf course. Chamber Director Kathy Wagaman tells WSJM News they picked disk golf because it’s one of the fastest growing recreational activities.

“There’s over 11,500 disk golf courses in the world,” Wagaman said. “We didn’t have one yet, and we looked at that and decided this is something for our community. It’s a great sport for families to play together, and we’re finding that it’s also something that’s very popular with leagues and tournaments.”

Wagaman says the new course will be located on property owned by the South Haven Area Recreation Authority just south of town off 14th Avenue and adjacent to the Van Buren Trail. It’ll be free for anyone to use once it’s open, they hope, in July. The organizations are inviting businesses to become sponsors of holes, tee signs, and benches to help pay for the cost. Any businesses interested should contact the South Haven Area Chamber of Commerce.
