Betty J. Smith, 89, of Watervliet, passed away on November 10, 2020 at Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph.
A private graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Watervliet. Memorial donations in Betty’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Betty was born August 28, 1931 in Hayti, Mo. to Frank and Nannie Mae (Jackson) Pollard. She loved being with her kids and grandkids. Betty was a people person who enjoyed making people laugh.
Betty is survived by her children Tony (Sheila) Smith of Benton Harbor, Carolyn Hosbein of Benton Harbor, Darrell (Lori) Smith of Beaufort, S.C., Doyle Smith of Benton Harbor and Leon (Patricia) Smith of Dexter, Mo. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Waymon Smith in 2012 and siblings Hazel Quinn, Lloyd Pollard, Grace Noel, Roberta Lewis and Kathleen Fowler.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Duffield & Pastrick Funeral Home, Coloma.
