Edna J. Smith our most precious treasure, our pride and joy went to be with Jesus on August 12, 2020.
Edna was born in Biloxi, Mississippi November 23, 1938 the youngest of 8 children born to Charles Stingley and Mary Bancroft. Preceding her in death were her parents, her siblings Grace Despot, Doris Payne, Charles Stingley, Leroy Stingley, Rosemary Higgs Anderson and her daughter Mary Ann Purtha Vaillincourt.
Edna is survived by her sisters, Kathleen Carter and Ruth Fullerton, her children Loretta & Raymond Hillock, Suzann & Mark Price, Vincent Purtha, Ronda & Marshall Baker, Edward & Jill Smith and Kelly Smith along with her step sons David, Bobby Jr., Ricky and Timothy Smith, her grandchildren Jonette Purtha, Mary Frances and David Lee, Donna and Donyetta Barns, Ray and Nicholas McGinnis, Tiffany Callahan, Christopher Hillock, Nichole Hillock Reese, Vincent Kelley, Bridget Freeman, Skyler Humphrey, Kandas Humphrey Grimm, Joshua David DeWitt, Gabriella Humphrey and Shyla Hollister along with several Great Grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews.
Edna loved and was committed to her family. She was her children’s strength and their example of independence. She loved sitting with her children and grandchildren playing Scrabble, Rummikub or Yahtzee.
She gave her life to Jesus and attended Calvary Tabernacle in Three Oaks, Michigan. Current Pastor Derrick & Tammy Payne. Her nephew Pastor Bradford & Betty Payne as well as Pastor George & Virginia Helmuth pastored for the majority of her attendance.
Edna’s Memorial Service will be at 3:00 PM on Saturday, September 26th, 2020 at Calvary Tabernacle, 606 N. Elm Street, Three Oaks, MI 49128. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan. Online condolences may be made at www.hovenfunerals.com.
