Barbara Rice, 84, formerly of St. Joseph, went to meet her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, Wednesday, April 29, 2020, at Pine Ridge Nursing Facility in Stevensville where she most recently resided.
A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Crystal Springs Church of God, 1465 Pipestone Rd., Benton Harbor, with Rev Bill Bridgman officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the Church. Private burial took place at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Barb was born November 15, 1935 in Benton Harbor to Willard & Martha (Skelley) Carpp. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School, Class of 1954. On February 18, 1956, she married William “Bill” Rice in St. Joseph. Barb worked for thirteen years at Williams Bros. Box Factory in St. Joseph, as well as taking care of her duties as a wife and mother. She was a former member of the First Church of God in St. Joseph where she taught Sunday School, worked in the nursery, and was active in the WCG-Women of the Church of God. Most recently she was a member of Crystal Springs Church of God in Benton Harbor. Barb enjoyed reading her Bible, and cherished the time spent with her family, especially the grand & great-grandchildren. Barb was a loving, friendly & outgoing person who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Barb is survived by her children-Leah Rice of Bridgman, Clint (Christina) Rice of Stevensville, Wes (Chris) Rice of Spring Lake, MI, Sam Rice of Three Rivers; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, and two brothers-Willard & David Carpp.
