The National Blueberry Festival in South Haven is still planned for this year, although organizers say it will look somewhat different, and they’re still working on that. A statement from National Blueberry Festival Chair John Deschaine says although “the exact shape of the festival is still evolving, our commitment is crystal clear: we are more determined than ever to continue the 57 year tradition of celebrating our agriculture industry and everything blueberry.” To that end, they are re-dedicating the 2020 National Blueberry Festival to celebrate the strength of the community, and to encourage safety. The statement says some or all in-person events may have to be dropped in favor of virtual ones, but the festival will still happen. Organizers will be making many decisions as the August event approaches.
