Shalonda Marie Burge

Shalonda Burger was called home to Jesus, Sunday, April 26, 2020, surrounded by her loved ones in Berrien Springs, Michigan.

On August 21, 1979, in Berrien Springs, Herschell and Yolanda (Glenn) Williams Jr. welcomed Shalonda into this world.

After graduating from Berrien Springs High School, class of 1997, Shalonda went on to earn her bachelor degree in early education from Western Michigan University and most recently returned back to graduate school.

Shalonda was a very artistic and creative soul. She enjoyed singing, dancing, acting, play writing and had a keen eye for fashion. She was devoted to family; never missing her son’s games and was a big supporter of Breast Cancer Awareness after her mother was diagnosed.

Shalonda was a charter member of FreedomLife church under the leadership of pastors Jeremy and Kelly Butler. She served on the executive leadership team; as the pastor’s personal assistant; in the women’s ministry; as the director of fine arts; and as a praise and worship leader. She dedicated her life to ministry, she loved and served the Lord with joy and gladness.

Shalonda was preceded in death by her mother, Yolanda Glenn-Williams.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth Burger of Berrien Springs, Michigan; her father, Herschell Williams Jr. of South Bend, Indiana; grandmothers, Katherine Glenn of Berrien Springs, Michigan and Nagena Williams of South Bend, Indiana; her siblings, Herschell (Carmen) Williams III of South Bend, Indiana, Jeremy Williams Sr. of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Jade Antonelli of Berrien Springs, Michigan. She will also be missed by countless family members and friends.

Due to the current, unprecedented guidelines limiting public gatherings because of the COVID-19 virus, there will be a private family gathering at Rose Hill Cemetery on Friday, May 1, 2020.

A video of the funeral service will be available on our Facebook page and website on Friday by 4 p.m.

A public memorial service to celebrate Shalonda’s life will take place on her birthday this year and more information will be forthcoming.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home, Niles.
