
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 31, 2019, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4333 Cleveland Ave., Stevensville, with Pastor Martin Measel officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd. St. Joseph. Carroll was born on June 20, 1931, to William and Alma (Rutz) Ott at his family’s grape farm in Bridgman. He graduated from Bridgman High School in 1950. On February 9, 1952, he married Mildred A. Svorec in Bridgman. Carroll was a very accomplished home building contractor for nearly sixty years and was part of the Home Builders Association. He enjoyed hunting and had his own hunting camp in the Upper Peninsula. In his later years he also liked having a vegetable garden. Carroll and his wife enjoyed traveling together and wintering in Florida. Together they lived in their dream log cabin that he built. Most of all, he cherished his family and friends.
Carroll is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mildred of Baroda; children, Penny Haldy of Niles, Cathy (David LaForge) Ott of St. Joseph and John (Shelia) Ott of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Cheryl (Chris) Thompson, Jennifer Gillespie, Andrea (Ryan) Dunn, Jesse (Jess) Holston and Ella Ott and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Bella, Brie, Allie, Maddie, Katie, Sophia, Aubrey, Luke, Colette and Maxwell. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Alma Ott; daughter, Carolyn Ott in 2008 and his siblings.
