Clarene E. “Ween” Schaefer, 91, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away, Friday, January 18, 2019 at her home in Mercedes, Texas.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 P.M. Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. David Moffett-Moore officiating.  Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.  Cremation will follow the service with burial at a later date at Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville.  Memorials in Ween’s name may be made to Zion Ev. Ween was born January 2, 1928 in Stevensville to Bryon & Mary (Hoge) Davis.  She graduated from Stevensville High School, Class of 1946 and on June 22 of that year she married Norman Schaefer in Baroda.  After raising her family, Ween was employed by Whirlpool Financial from 1965 until she retired as Manager in 1990.  While living in the area, she was a member of Zion Ev. United Church of Christ in Baroda.  In her free time, she enjoyed making ceramics.

Ween is survived by her husband Norman; four daughters-Marilyn Schaefer of MI, Sandra (Alan) Moore of MI, Susan (Jim) Podjenski of NE, Annmarie (Glenn) Fisher of TX; daughter-in-law Sande Schaefer of MI; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; her brother Lee (Dolores) Davis of MI; her brother-in-law Rev. William Tollas of IN; sisters-in-law-Millie Davis, Evelyn Davis & Joyce Davis, all of MI and numerous nieces & nephews.  She was preceded in death by two sons-infant David Schaefer in 1950 & William “Bill” Schaefer in 2003, brothers-Donald, Robert, Arthur & Virgil Davis and her sister Marie Tollas.
