Beatrice Jones 88 of Benton Harbor, transitioned on December 21, 2018, at Lakeland Hospital surrounded by family.

Benton Harbor – Our beloved mother, Beatrice Louise Jones, entered her eternal rest December 21, 2018. She was the fifth of eight children born to Lee Terry and Sillar (Tatum) Johnson March 20, 1930, in Homer, LA. She relocated to Benton Harbor in 1949.

“Aunt Bea” as she was affectionately known, wore many hats.  She was known for her culinary skills, catering and working in numerous restaurants in Benton Harbor and St. Joseph. She retired at the age of 46. She was an example of a Godly woman, a counselor, teacher, and evangelist in her church. She was an awesome babysitter to generations of children of friends and family. She was blessed to live to keep her twin great-great-grandchildren,

The impact on her family, friends, church community and neighborhood cannot be replaced, nor will it ever be forgotten. Her legacy is left to her living children: Jarline Young, Indianapolis, IN; Lionel Williams, Benton Harbor, MI; Annette Kaye Hawkins, Detroit, MI; and Richard Williams, Benton Harbor, MI.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Jones; parents, Lee Terry and Sillar (Tatum) Johnson, Sr.; brothers, Cordell, Oprather, Lee Terry, Jr. and Aaron; sisters, Essie Lee Furlough and Willie Lee Gathwright; grandson, Lionel Williams, Jr.; and great-granddaughter, Tashayla Washington.
