St. Joseph High School’s Dickinson Stadium will be undergoing a large makeover starting this week.
After a few delays, the installation of synthetic turf on the football field is set to begin on Wednesday. The work, which was supposed to start earlier in the summer, was delayed after old drainage systems were uncovered after tearing up the original field. The funding for the turf field comes from a donation from Steve and Elizabeth Upton.
The new field will make St. Joseph the fourth high school in Berrien County to have synthetic turf, and the sixth in the Southwest Michigan Athletic Conference. It’ll also allow St. Joe’s soccer teams to return to playing at the high school after playing at Upton Middle School for the last 25 years.
