Education Tech Program Being Tested At Benton Harbor School

A new education technology pilot program has been launched at the STEAM Academy at MLK in Benton Harbor. eBravium, an education tech company, is providing two third grade classrooms with a new tablet-based arithmetic learning system called eCarrot. The goal is to help the kids boost their math skills at a critical time in their development. The trial has been going on since April 17 and will wrap up at the end of the month. Benton Harbor Area Schools tells us the children are spending about 20 to 25 minutes per day working on a combination of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division problems using the tablets. Before the program started, their math skills were tested and when it’s done, they’ll be retested. The tablet-based exercises are based on games the kids have to unlock using math. eBravium says it hopes the work they’re doing in Benton Harbor will prove a success and gain traction to be expanded to classrooms nationwide.
