Police are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a 16-year-old Edwardsburg girl and sent three others to the hospital. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office says Makayla McKenzie was killed after her car was hit by a pickup truck driven by Jeffrey Jackson of Niles shortly before noon on Tuesday. Her car flipped due to the impact, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her two passengers, both Edwardsburg teens, were hospitalized as was Jackson. Deputies have not determined if eveyone was buckled up or if alcohol was a factor. The accident happened at the intersection of Pine Lake Street and Dailey Road in Jefferson Township.
