A hit and run crash involving one vehicle is under investigation by the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department. The crash occurred around 4 a.m. Tuesday on 40th Street south of 76th Avenue in Decatur Township. Sheriff’s deputies say by the time they arrived at the scene, the driver had fled. They say it was possibly a taller individual who suffered face lacerations. Deputies determined the vehicle had been southbound on 40th Street, south of 76th Avenue, when it crossed the center line. It then struck a ditch and a driveway and went airborne, possibly rolling several times upon landing. It suffered heavy damage. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department.
