Benton Harbor City Commissioner Duane Seats will serve as the new mayor pro tem. On Monday, Mayor Marcus Muhammad announced he’s picked Seats for the position that will have him serving in Muhammad’s role if Muhammad can’t be present at any given time. Also Monday, several committee chairs were announced. They include City Commissioner Juanita Henry for Public Safety and Recreation, Ruthie Haralson for Personnel and Finance, Mary Alice Adams for Legislative, Duane Seats for Planning and Economic Development, and Bryan Joseph for the Communications and Public Relations Committee. Under the city charter, the mayor gets to pick committee chairs and vice chairs.
